#203 ASA PLAY ON Washington State +16 over Washington, Saturday at 4 PM ET

As we’ve stated the last few weeks, this Washington team is primed to get upset.  We are on Oregon State last week and while the Huskies won by 2 points, OSU won the stat sheet with more first downs, more yardage, but had 3 key turnovers, 2 of which led directly to 9 of Washington’s 22 points.  Despite their undefeated record, the Huskies have been outgained in 4 of their last 6 games and 7 of their 8 Pac 12 wins have come by 10 points or less.  The defense has also fallen off drastically allowing 36.5 PPG in Pac 12 play and the only team that is worse is USC.  Wazzu is off a confidence building 56-14 win over Colorado.  The Cougars needed that win to keep their bowl hopes alive and now they need a win here so plenty of motivation beyond the rivalry aspect.  WSU has lost 6 straight prior to beating Colorado but they were competitive all but one of those games including hanging with Oregon on the road before losing by 14.  This line sits at -16 in favor of Washington and of the Cougars 6 losses only one has come by that more than that margin.  The State offense matches up very well vs this porous Husky defense.  The Cougars are one of the top passing offenses in the nation (4th in the country) with a dynamic dual threat QB Ward.  They are facing a Washington defense that allows 260 YPG passing (119th) and 24 completions per game (129th).  The Huskies just need to get out of this one with a win as they are already set to face Oregon in the Pac 12 Championship next week.  They don’t need any injuries and have no incentive to run this one up late in the 2nd half even if they get a chance which we don’t think will happen.  With Washington’s defense struggling and State able to score points (32 PPG) the Huskies would have to have a massive offensive day to have a chance to cover this big number.  We like Wazzu to keep up here and make this one interesting.  Take the points.

Free bet today or Georgia State vs App State prediction. Value here with GSU coming of 2 losses vs Ga Southern & JMU while App State is off 2 home wins vs low tier conference teams USM and Marshall.  App State is 1-3 SU on the road with only win over UL Monroe by 1 point which was far from an impressive road win.  ULM is just 1-7 on the season vs FBS teams with their only win coming over Army by 4 points.  Geogia State has played the much tougher Sun Belt schedule so far having faced JMU, Troy, Ga Southern, and ULL (all of the top teams in the league).  App State has yet to play either of the 2 best teams in the Sun Belt, JMU and Troy.  Georgia State should control ground game in this one which is key.  They have a very good running team averaging 187 YPG and App State is 123rd defensively vs the run allowing 195 YPG.  The Mountaineers remain overvalued having covered just once in their last 5 games.  We like Georgia State as a small home favorite as todays free bet.

Do you know how many times the Jayhawks have been a road favorite in the last ten years? ONCE! In that same 10-year span the Cowboys have been home dogs 14 times and have covered & won 9 of those. Let’s start your morning off with a free bet on the Total of the Liberty Flames and Wisconsin Badgers. The first numbers that stand out are the pace of play or possessions per game for both teams. Liberty ranks 308th in adjusted tempo at 64.8 with an average possession length of 19.1 seconds. The Badgers prefer that same style of play with the 345th ranked adjusted tempo and 349th average possession length at 19.7 seconds. Wisconsin doesn’t shoot it well either with an effective field goal percentage of 48.6 (275th). Both teams take pride on the defensive end of the court with the Flames allowing .972-points per possession which ranks them 46th in the nation. Wisconsin under Greg Gard has always been known for their defense and this season is no different as they give up just .946-points per possession which ranks 24th. Liberty just faced a Villanova team that has very similar statistics to Wisconsin and that game finished with 119 total points. The Badgers had a higher scoring game in the opener against Bradley but they shot uncharacteristically well in that game with Steven Crowl going 12 of 16 from the field, 7 of 7 from the FT line. In a slow tempo game we like less than 129 total points as a today’s free bet in college basketball.

College Football free wager – Nov 5th

ASA PLAY ON #392 UL Lafayette +4.5 over Troy, Saturday 5 PM ET

College Football free wager: We think we’re getting some solid value here with the home dog.  Last year ULL was favored by -6.5 AT Troy and now this year they are getting +4.5 at home.  So technically we’re talking about at least a 17 point swing in one year if we factor in home field advantage.  That’s too much.  ULL is coming off a loss which helped this line, however it was a deceiving loss @ Southern Miss.  The Golden Eagles won 39-24 vs ULL who was favored by -2.5 on the road in that game.  The Ragin Cajuns outgained USM by 100 yards in that loss but had 4 turnovers and the Eagles had a defensive TD and a safety in the game.  Prior to that loss ULL was coming off back to back double digit wins vs Arkansas State and Marshall.  At home this season the Cajuns are 3-1 with their only loss coming by 3 points vs a South Alabama who we have rated dead even with Troy.  The Trojans are on a nice 5 game winning streak, however they struggle offensively at times (76th in total offense and 120th in rushing) so they often win close games when they do win.  In that 5 game winning streak they have scored 17 points or fewer 3 times and 4 of those 5 winning margins were single digits.  If we throw out Troy’s game vs FCS Alabama A&M their average score this season is 20.2 – 17.7 so only +2.5 PPG.  ULL has an extremely strong home field advantage winning 22 of their last 25 as a host dating back to the 2018 season.  Troy hasn’t laid points on the road in this series since 2011 and we feel the Cajuns have a solid shot at the upset here as our free pick.  Take the points with ULL as our free pick today.
