PLAY ON UNDER 50.5 Tampa Bay @ Carolina, 1PM ET
This number opened 47.5 so we like the added field goal with the Under and the additional value it provides. The Carolina offense put up 31 last week against KC but had averaged 20PPG in their previous 4 games and 2 of those games were against the Falcons who are 23rd in the NFL in points allowed per game (28PPG). The Panthers are 24th in yards per point offense as it takes them 15.8 yards to score a single point. Now they face a Bucs D that is 9th in points allowed per game this season at 22.6 AND coming off a horrible showing against the Saints where they gave up 38 in a loss.
In their previous 4 games the Bucs had allowed 18.25PPG and held much better offenses of Green Bay and Las Vegas to 10 & 20 points (both are top 11 in scoring at 27+PPG). Tampa Bay and Tom Brady will bounce back here after 3-points against the Saints and a horrendous showing but it won’t come easy against a Panther defense that isn’t great, but it is around league average in most categories. Tampa Bay not quite as good offensively as their billing as they rank 22nd in total yards per game, 16th in passing and 30th in rushing. They’ve benefitted by their defense and takeaways (1st) at 16 which had led to short scoring drives. Carolina is 12th in turnovers so if they can take care of the football it limits scoring opportunities for Brady and company. When these two met earlier this year the number was 47 and they scored 48. That was with Chrisitan McCaffrey who scored two TD’s. The Under is 5-3 the last 8 in this rivalry and the when it’s the second meeting of the same season between these two teams the Under has cashed 3 of the last four.
