ASA’s SEC TOTAL WIN BEST BET
SOUTH CAROLINA – UNDER 6 Wins
South Carolina was fairly lucky to get to 7-5 in the regular season last year. That was proven in their bowl game where they lost 28-0 to a fairly average Virginia team. Three of their seven wins came when they were favored by at least 29 points (Coastal Carolina, Chattanooga, and Akron) so their non-conference slate was as easy as they come. Once they hit the SEC they were outgained by an average of 50 YPG yet still were able to finish 4-4. Their only convincing win in SEC play was vs Vandy. Their other wins came by 2, 3, and 4 points (Mizzou, Tennessee, and Ole Miss) and they were trailing in the 4th quarter of all 3 of those games. The defense was shredded in conference play for an average of 441 YPG (4th worst in the SEC). If you throw out their first 2 SEC games (Vandy & Kentucky) the Gamecocks allowed 3,187 yards (531 YPG) in their final 5 SEC games + Clemson. This year their schedule is brutal as they face the two teams that faced off for the National Championship last year (Bama & Clemson) along with Georgia, LSU, Florida, and Texas A&M. South Carolina will have a really tough time getting to 6 wins this year so we are on the UNDER.
