ASA’s 2018 KENTUCKY DERBY REPORT – Derby Doings!

Below is a quick report from our Horse Capper who is on site in Louisville for the Kentucky Derby – Thanks, ASA Inc.
KY derby 2018Well the big guns have wrapped up their main work for next week Kentucky Derby. I’ve listed the works with the spits and also have provided the video for you all to view yourself or reference back top as the week looms up on us. Their are several that have tipped their hand in the AM as of now and their a few you can toss out like a bad piece of meat.   This field is extremely talented and you can make a case for 6 of them to be wearing the blanket of roses.

As I stated earlier, I’m not backing Justify as our win contender.  This is the 1st time in MANY years that Bob Baffert hasn’t shipped in early with his top guns to get acquainted with the surface. I know he’s stated it doesn’t really matter as he shipped in Able Tasman last minute last year, but that race was run over SLOP!  I truly feel there is a reason he hasn’t shipped in Justify, is it his demeanor in new surroundings?  We’ll never know, but remember their is a reason he made his career debut on February 18th! Below is my POV on the best works to this date.

Best…

TOP 3 WORKS

1. – Magnum Moon – The horse everyone HATES!! The Apollo curse and his erratic stretch runs.  His work on yesterday was a thing of BEAUTY. I’ve only seen a few work 47.4 that they makde it looked like a 49!! He’s big bodied and his stride is extremely efficient, no wasted motion.  Also note, no one has ever made up any ground on Magnum Moon through the stretch and take in all the ground he’s lost veering out so BAD!!

2. – Good Magic – Boy does Chad Brown have this son of Curlin ready to explode next Saturday! They’ve had a plan since his Breeders’ Cup victory and it has been working out to a tee! He’s carrying great flesh and muscle tone and is really thriving over this surface in a big way.

3. – Vino Rosso – He’s thriving and now we know why Jr has selected him over Audible. He’s ready to run another big race off his Wood Memorial victory. He’s carrying great flesh and looks to be sitting on another big performance.
